Ribhu Dasgupta (Bengali: রিভু দাশগুপ্ত) is an Indian film director born in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. His father, Raja Dasgupta,was a popular Bengali filmmaker and his mother Chaitali Dasgupta is an actress while his grandfather Harisadhan Dasgupta was a pioneer of Bengali documentary cinema. His brother Birsa Dasgupta is an Indian film director based in Tollywood.
Ribhu started his working life in Bombay (Mumbai) by assisting Anurag Kashyap and got absolutely independent hands on experience. He assisted Anurag during the making of the 2009 Hindi film "Gulaal" (DVD release).
The film in question is his first writer - directorial debut, Michael (Psychological Thriller 2011), which stars Naseeruddin Shah, and illustrates the simple yet complex journey of a father obsessively haunted by his past. “It is about his fight against all odds to make a fortune for his son in a present which is seemingly dire. Michael has been selected for screening at the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) where it will have it's world premiere on Thursday September 15, 2011 at the Visa Screening Room (Elgin) at 9:00 PM. Which was was applauded at the Toronto Film Festival.
Then he direct on Yudh (TV Mini-Series) (series director - 20 episodes) in 2014.
